Hello There :)
Little Nuna and I recently went on a small road-tripping Knitting-Adventure to Langebaan, accompanied by a beautiful and scenic 1h30min drive with the car. Passing one of our fav hangouts on the way, The West Coast National Park, a must-visit for any of you nature lovers :)
We arrived in Langebaan to be greeted by huge smiles from Granny Mary and Granny Joan, who excitedly presented our pre-ordered samples of the freshly sprouted Nunabean hand-knitted range: The Pixie Moss Hooded Jacket! The hours flew by with us perfecting Granny Mary’s customised pattern, deciding on the final texture of the jacket, the perfect number of button holes, the perfect buttons, and finding that perfect shape for the Pixie-Moss Hood!!! Perfection for these grannies was not taken lightly, and the discussions in turn, were no mean feat!!!
We tried to keep the Nunabean essence of nature and simplicity, and this time adding a bit of fun and pixie-magic! And always keeping it local, with yarns and artisans!
My heart was fuzzy being able to experience Granny Mary and Granny Joan swopping ideas and sharing their skills. These ladies genuinely knit with much love, pride and enthusiasm! Granny Mary’s no-seam-policy and heart felt concern for indentations on baba’s skin, just blows me away!
With lots of background support from Little Nuna, Jessica and Kitty! Nuna kindly took some timeout to fit the samples, for a quick photoshoot!
We love the hood of the tamarind colour jacket and the texture of the grey colour jacket… let us know your thoughts?! We are still "perfecting"!
A well deserved trip followed to the Pancake Shop for the most delicious freshly made pancakes with Nutella and Sugar-Cinnamon and lemon!
Granny Mary, Granny Joan, Jessica, Nuna, Kitty and I, all decided it was definitely, a most successful Knitting AGM, to be repeated sooner than later!
Enjoy the pics xxx
And watch this space to see what we finally sprouted for our Perfect Pixie Hooded Jacket!

As of 30 October 2014, Nunabean is officially open and trading with our first little retail outlet at the Watershed, Cape Town!
The launch was a truly magical evening with special performances and interactive activities, a wonderful launch event and a genuinely memorable celebration. Made more special with the support of family and friends.
Excited to be in this new home with more than 150 tenants who represent over 365 brands, a beautiful space that is expected to be "the most desired craft and design collective to visit".
Also this December, just around the corner, the brand new Watershed Exhibition Centre will house the world-renowned LEGO® art exhibit, The Art of The Brick.
The Watershed is located at the V& A Waterfront, on Dock Road, next to the Two Oceans Aquarium and is open daily from 10h00 - 19h00.
Our Pram Shoes are fast becoming the perfect baby shower gift and that makes us ecstatic. Our tagline of 'small feet, big dreams' is exactly what we've always intended, that a pair of Nunabean Pram Shoes should be every baby's first pair along with whatever dreams the parents, uncles, aunts, grandparents and friends have in mind for them.
It's hard finding a unique baby shower gift and it's so nice to get such amazing feedback about how beautiful our packaging is with our Shweshwe African print or linen bags complete with dream badge makes such a special gift for a shower.
So we recently wrapped up our latest photo shoot of the range and it's really cool to be able to show the kind of detail we wanted to in high resolution. We want our online store to give customers a genuine feel for the quality, comfort and hand-made care that goes into our shoes and jerseys so it was important to us to provide beautiful product photography that leaves nothing to the imagination.
We love how the 'dream shots' came out, capturing our tagline of 'small feet, big dreams' with a few interesting props.
Nunabean has a new online home and we're really excited at what's in store for our brand in the coming months. With orders and interest coming in from all over the world, we've been inundated with requests to expand our range to include bigger sizes (2 - 4) so we're hard at work prepping new additions to our product range.
It's really heartwarming to receive such positive feedback from customers who appreciate the quality and care we put into our materials and manufacturing process and it is for that reason that we look so forward to bringing you more beautiful handmade items for the special little people in your life.
